Okay, I'm embarassed to admit that I've never been able to figure out how to create a new user on Windows 2000 or Windows 2003. Anyone have a good howto that doesn't require me to take a course in system administration? I just want to give someone access to my FTP server without giving them the password for the Administrator.# Posted by Dave Winer on 4/5/05; 9:03:51 PM - --
My iPod had been failing intermittently, but now it won't play at all. So it's time once again to shop for a new MP3 player, and I'm pretty sure it won't be an iPod. I'm tired of the tight coupling of the iPod to iTunes, I have two computers and they have different music on them, and I don't dare plug my iPod into the second computer because I'm pretty sure iTunes will erase the songs it doesn't know about.
I want a device that interfaces as a hard disk through USB, so I can use it on any computer I like, and add and remove music using operating system commands.
I like the fact that the iPod can, with 20GB, hold my entire music collection, but I wouldn't mind having room to grow.
It would be great if it also had a microphone and the ability to record, and while you're at it, how about an FM tuner?
What other features should I be lusting for?
What do you like about your MP3 player, what don't you like?
Postscript: I bought an Archos PMA430. It's a god-like PDA, or so it appears. And they are coming otu with an SDK. # Posted by Dave Winer on 4/5/05; 5:03:16 PM - --
